As with anything to do with Spirit you can either meditate or use the ‘breathing exercise’ to prepare yourself to work. Remember to always make an appointment, tell Spirit where and when you will be working so they can be there (Spirit still have other things to do so they might be busy).

Take an item that is personal to your sitter like a piece of jewellery, they don’t have to be present when this is being done. Make sure that no one else touches the item. The reason for no one else touching the item is because their aura is on the item and someone else touching the item will put their aura onto the item which can interfere with the reading, you could get a reading for the other person who touched the item and not the sitter.

Sit comfortably, arms and legs uncrossed. Hold the item in your hands, touch the item, feel for any energy (hot, cold, tingling). Close your eyes and picture the item in your mind.

If you feel the energy drop e.g. finding it hard to understand what is coming through or material things like your tea come to your mind then do the breathing exercise again, this raises your vibrations.

Some people feel daft or stupid, don’t. You have to trust in yourself. If you are unsure of what you are getting just say what you see and let the sitter decide if it is relevant or not.

There is a story of a man who went from medium to medium, Spiritualist church to Spiritualist church and never found what he was looking for. One day he was in a church when a medium stood up and announced, ‘I am getting only one thing and I have to give it off, all I got was bananas.’ The man stood up and walked up to the medium, he shook her hand and said thank you. He had made an agreement with his wife before she died that if she died first and there was an afterlife she would come back and say only one word, ‘bananas’ because it was an unusual word. Other mediums had felt stupid saying the word so they had not said anything.                                              

It doesn’t matter if you don’t get everything right first time, what is important is you learn to use your instincts, also remember people can not always place the information at that time and might have to go away and think about it or have to ask someone about the information.

Don’t worry if at first you only get one item, it is the quality that counts not the quantity. If that one item gives proof to your sitter you have done your job.

When you have finished always close your link by saying ‘God bless’ or ‘I will leave you with that’, this doesn’t only close your link but lets Spirit know you are moving to the next sitter.
